Travelers heading to Detroit can now reserve rooms for luxury watchmaker Shinola’s new hotel.
Reservations are officially open for stays starting Jan. 2 with rates starting at $195.
Shinola partnered with real estate firm Bedrock to develop the 129-guestroom hotel.
The property joins two restored historic buildings– the former T.B. Rayl Co. department store and the former home to the Singer Sewing Machine company—with three new buildings.
It is located in the city’s historic Woodward Avenue shopping district, within walking distance of Ford Field, Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena.
The hotel is operated by Mac&Lo and designed by Gachot Studios and Kraemer Design Group. Shinola products were made exclusively to adorn the rooms, including the Runwell Desk Clock, a striped alpaca throw blanket, and a signature hotel candle.
Guestrooms come in 50 configurations but all have 100 percent cotton, 300-thread-count bed linens from Frette and bath amenities made specifically for Shinola.
Guests and locals will have several food and beverage options, all led by chef Andrew Carmellini of NoHo Hospitality Group, which also developed Locanda Verde and The Dutch in New York City.
Dining choices include San Morello, a Southern Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizzas; Evening Bar, a classic American bar with craft cocktails and bar bites; The Brakeman, an American beer hall featuring craft beers from the Midwest; and Penny Red’s, a fried chicken spot.
The Living Room, or lobby, will also serve food. There will be in-room dining. Banquet spaces include the Birdy Room.
Several retail spaces will include Le Labo, Madewell, and Good Neighbor, among others
